Ryan O’Connor from CACC was also present and we worked together on a few tasks. There was a question on removal of T-tops, which was yes. A few marshal stations were adjusted throughout the weekend to increase safety. One cone was replaced incorrectly on Sunday but was caught immediately and required only one re-run. We attended the impound sessions to receive any inquiries. About 40 competitors cars were weighed on Sunday. There were no cars underweight. There were no formal protests received.
It was a good event and the VCMC club hit their maximum cap of 100 entries. There was a Test & Tune on Friday afternoon, attended by about 1/3 of the field. The weekend courses started out with a few loops on the airport apron and then ran out onto the runway in two directions. There were four courses set up, with two on Saturday and two on Sunday. Competitors had three runs on each course with their fastest times cumulated from the four courses. The spacing between cones on the serpentine sections was up to 32 paces, which challenged the competitors to not hit cones and stay on course. There was one car from Ontario, about a dozen from Alberta, three from the US, and the rest from various areas around BC. Saturday’s runs went from 10:00 AM to about 6:00 PM, followed by a catered Mexican Taco dinner at 7:00. Sunday’s runs went from 9:30 to 5:00 PM followed by awards at 6:00 PM. Class winners received embossed hoodies with the event logo on them.
